Tulang-tulang berserakan

A dark chapter struck the Federation of Malaya in June 1948. Sharp political conflicts among various ideologies led to the declaration of a nationwide Emergency Law. The British authorities took the opportunity to continue suppressing progressive political leaders who were deemed a threat to their governance. A special team was formed to fight against the communist forces in the jungles, consisting mostly of police officers who had just completed training at the Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur Depot. This team was named the Jungle Squad (Hutan Police), whose duties included patrolling the jungles in search of communist guerrilla trails. Some of the trials and tribulations of this jungle police team are recorded by the author - Usman Awang - based on his own experiences as one of them in "Tulang-tulang Berserakan."
