Zon Pembangunan Ekonomi Ummah (ZPEU)

The Economic Development Zone Program (ZPEU) is an initiative by the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) led by Dato’ Syeikh Zakaria Othman, who has bravely and confidently taken the risk to implement the ZPEU program, inspired by the late Professor Dr. Zakaria Abas, a research fellow at the Zakat Research and Innovation Institute (IPIZ), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The ZPEU program is based on the Large-Scale Smart Rice Field Project for Asnaf (SSBBA), which supports the principle of 'from asnaf to asnaf' with a specific focus on socio-economic development and human development.

This book is produced from a mega research program funded by IPIZ-LZNK, structured into 16 chapters covering three parts: the first part discusses the initial formation and implementation phase of the ZPEU program, followed by the second part focusing on the strengthening of the program, and the third part addresses the impacts and direction of the ZPEU program. This book details the actual findings of the study, suitable for general reading and as a reference for students, academics, researchers, and stakeholders who wish to participate in the economic jihad of the community.
