Intelektual masyarakat membangun
The intellectual class, which typically plays an important role in its society, has failed to fulfill the expected role in various developing societies. On one hand, various reasons have determined their low quality – such as environment, educational institutions, and excessive self-satisfaction. On the other hand, some of them feel disappointed and useless to their society, leading to a passive attitude or even abandoning it. There are also those referred to as the intelligentsia – individuals who are capable of thinking but are politically ignorant and weak. And there are the ignorant, who believe they are working to advance their society but do not apply their knowledge.
This book outlines the causes, characteristics, needs, and roles that the intellectual class needs to play in developing societies, with examples from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Russia, and various other developing countries, in comparison with the societies of developed nations.
